Phase 4
The purpose of phase 4 is for children to begin to read and spell words containing consonant clusters (e.g. spin, bump). They will also read and spell words with two or more syllables (e.g. chim/pan/zee).
No new graphemes are taught in this phase. Children are taught to read and spell more 'tricky' words (said, so, do, have, like, some, come, were, there, little, one, when, out, what).
